MOM AND ME: 2-4 1/2 yrs. 5 classes at 30 min each. Stretch clothes, avoid zippers and buttons, shoes are not necessary, socks are acceptable.
BALLET: 7 yrs. to Adult - 1 hour Leotard, tights, pink ballet shoes, 8 1/2 x 11 notebook with a pencil for ballet notes, hair tied back off shoulders.
TOTS: (Ballet, Acro, and Rhythm) 3 to 4 by Sept 1 - 45 min. Leotard, tights, and pink ballet shoes.
POINTE: 12 yrs. to Adult Must Audition, completed 3 yrs. Ballet, and currently enrolled in Ballet.
JUNIOR COMBINATION: (Ballet, Acro, and Tap) 5 yrs. & 6-year olds by Sept 1 - 1 hour. Leotard, tights, pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes with elastic tap ties.
TAP: 7 yrs. to Adult - 1 hour Leotard, tights, black tap shoes, hair tied back.
SENIOR COMBINATION: (Ballet and Tap) 6 yrs. old - 1 hour. Leotard, tights, pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes with elastic tap ties.
JAZZ: 7 yrs. to Adult - 1 hour Leotard, tights, black jazz shoes, hair tied back.
LYRICAL: 11 yrs. to Adult Must have completed 3 yrs. Ballet and Jazz and currently enrolled in both Ballet and Jazz with approval of instructor.
Acrobatics: 7 yrs. to Adult - 1 hour Leotard, tights, footless or convertible tights, no shoes required, hair tied back.
MALE STUDENTS: T-shirt, jazz pants, tights, or stretchy bike shorts, and black shoes pertaining to dance subject.
HIP HOP: 7 yrs. to Adult - 45 min. Leotard, easy moving pants, and jazz shoes.
ADULT TAP: 45 min. Leggings, t-shirts, & stretchy clothes are acceptable.
ADULT BALLET: 60 min. Leggings, t-shirts, stretchy clothes & socks are acceptable.

What to wear: We have a dancewear store on site. All shoes (especially ballet) should be BLOCH, CAPEZIO, OR SO DANCA! Other ballet shoes' soles may cause difficulty balancing on the proper part of the foot, soreness, and unhappy ballerinas. All new students may try the class without dancewear and shoes for the first month only. Please wear stretchy clothes (no zippers or buttons) and socks or barefoot.
A leotard must be worn in every class and hair tied back by October 1st!This is a studio requirement.
Shari Rarick Gysel began dancing as a very young child and has operated a Dance Studio in Battle Creek, Michigan for over 40 years. She has performed and taught sacred liturgical dance through her dance ministry as a member of the United Methodist Church and the spouse of a United Methodist pastor.
Do not wear dance shoes outside! They are designed to wear on our Stage floors.
Wear cover-ups to and from the studio.
Please write the name of the student in ALL dance shoes to help find the owner in shoe mix-ups.
NO gum in class or the studio.
We prefer that no large jewelry be worn in class.
Bring no valuables to class with you. We cannot be responsible for lost or missing items.
Please, NO food or drink in the studio - water only.

Tuition is due on the first lesson of every month. A $5.00 LATE FEE will automatically be charged after the 10th of each month. We accept cash, check, Visa, Master Card, debit. Several months may be paid together.
JUNE TUITION - Full payment and attendance are required to participate in the recital. Classes continue the week after the recital. PRIVATE DANCE CLASSES must be paid for in advance of the class. *Payments may also be put in the mail slot at any time located to the right of the front door.
Costume Deposit(s) -A non-refundable costume deposit of $60.00 for the June Recital is required for each class. This is due by November 15th. The balance will be due in the Spring. Christmas show costume will be a separate fee.

ATTENDANCE POLICY -Classes meet weekly. Perfect attendance certificates will be awarded during the last class after the recital.
VISITING DAY - will be open the first lesson of each month for viewing.
VACATION POLICY - We will send home a “Dates to Remember” sheet with the Dance School’s Holiday schedules, extra rehearsals, and other important dates to put on your calendar.

CHRISTMAS SHOW - Is yet to be determined. It depends on if we can use the theatre at Ann J Kellogg School. This is a volunteer performance. Students must sign up in October (with clothing size). Students may perform only 1 dance, and acro is not available for performance due to stage size. It will be held at Ann J Kellogg Elementary School. Your class will perform at 1:30 or 3 pm as assigned. However, We may choose another option.
ANNUAL RECITAL- Saturday, June 12th with Dress Rehearsal Date and Time to be announced. All students are expected to participate as part of their dance education. There is also Run-Thru on the first Friday in early May if allowed. Students are expected to participate in this learning opportunity. Run-Thru is videotaped and reviewed for class improvement. The REHEARSALS and PERFORMANCES are part of June’s lesson.

Shari Rarick Gysel began dancing as a very young child. She was able to take advantage of dance educational instruction weekly by instructors in Grand Rapids, Lansing and Detroit in addition to her own classes in ballet, jazz, acrobatic, tap and modern that she continued from her dance instructors in Battle Creek.
Attended Butler University as a dance major while completing High School.
Graduated from Paris American Academy as a dance major.
Attended Michigan State University.

For over 50 years she has provided excellent dance instruction for the community of Battle Creek through her dance studio. Additionally, she has served the area with dance through teaching in:

This is accomplished through dance education and performance. Dance classes are held weekly in all of the dance disciplines of ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics and lyrical, offered at all levels of proficiency from beginner through advanced. Instruction is offered to students with an emphasis on dance technique. There are many opportunities to explore different styles of dance within a dance education at Shari Rarick School of Dance, from classical through contemporary.
